“Things do not change; we change.” Henry David Thoreau
There really isn’t much more than that to write. Thoreau pretty much summed it up right there. We all hope things will change but most things do not change unless we do.
You work at a job where you can stand the boss. You sit there for years and years thinking “One day they’ll get fired and I can enjoy my job” when all it takes is for you to change and take action. What is stopping you from looking for work elsewhere? Once you find that work you can fire your current boss yourself by leaving.
Don’t wait for things or circumstances around you to change your life for you. Take action right now to move where you want to be. Fill out the application, do the research, go for a walk – just do something!
What action(s) can you take right this minute to move towards a goal you have?

This is easy. Personal Accountability… I wake up everyday and decide what path I am taking today that will make me happy and successful. It is just that easy.
That is great!
I think part of this intentional self-change is to be what we hope others will be. If we hope our boss will start expressing appreciation to us, we do that to them. If we want others to read our writing, we read theirs. Not just arbitrary change, not just self-centered change, but changing the world into the version we want it to be by changing ourself into that same vision of a more perfect world.
One of the greatest things (and most frightening, and most faith-building) things I ever did was to quit a job at which I was utterly miserable with no replacement job lined up. Thankfully, they paid me the vacation time I had not taken yet so I had about 3 weeks before money would become an issue. I got my current job just at the three week mark.
Great reminder that I actually have to take steps to change. I am really good at dreaming about the end result but struggle with actually putting in the work.
Love this quote! You are very right on your point that we are the ones who change.
I think that is a problem that plagues a lot of people. According to Tony Robbins, once you come up with a goal you should do something right then to take a step towards to goal and not wait. Give that a try and see how it does for you.
